General Guidelines

Use pH-neutral Car Wash Soap — Choose automotive-specific, pH-neutral soap to protect your Tesla's paint and ceramic coating. Avoid household detergents which can strip protective layers.
Separate Wash Mitts — Use different colored mitts for different areas: one for the upper body, one for lower panels, and a separate one for wheels. This prevents cross-contamination.
Work in Optimal Conditions — Choose a shaded area or cloudy day. Direct sunlight can cause soap to dry too quickly, leading to water spots and swirl marks.
Two-Bucket Method — Use one bucket with soap solution and another with clean water for rinsing. Add grit guards to both buckets to trap dirt at the bottom.

Door Handles — Clean inside handle recesses with detail brushes. Use compressed air to remove debris first.
Autopilot Sensors — Use gentle microfiber for cameras and sensors. Avoid direct water spray on B-pillar cameras.
Charging Port — Clean with slightly damp microfiber. Ensure area is completely dry before closing.
